July 5, 2011

Our little Grace turned 6 years old on the July 5th.  And she is truly growing up into a lovely little lady.  Jesse took her out for breakfast.  She chose to have french toast with bacon and orange juice.  Even though we were up late at the fireworks she was super excited to be woken up and taken on a special date with Daddy.  For her birthday she received her own Bible, a gift she was promised once she learned to read.  This one is great because it has the full Scriptures in it, plus a few pictures and summaries of some of the people and specific events of the Bible.  We spent the morning indoors as it rained.  I prepared her special requests for her birthday supper.  Here was her menu:
cheese quesadillas
corn
plums
strawberries
chocolate cupcakes with blue and green frosting
You would think this would be an easy meal, but we were all out of tortillas, so I made some and they turned out awesome.  I was hesitant to try, but my friend, Noles, gave me the recipe a little while back and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try them out.  Everyone thought they were fantastic!  Thanks for the recipe, Noella.  They were a hit.  I should add a photo of them.  They looked so yummy!  We spent the afternoon at the lake building castles, cooling off in the water, and on the playground.  Then, a couple minutes after we climbed into the van to go home it poured down rain like crazy.  The day ended with Grace's special birthday meal and lots of phone calls from loved ones.

Happy Birthday Grace Olivia!

Happy Birthday Grace!! Your dinner menu sounds delish! Now your mommy will never go back to store bought tortillas. They are super yummy and worth the extra time aren't they Jo?!! So glad they turned out for you. The fruit pizza looks great too and the 13x9 worked great for a flag! Hugs and love to you all!
